Transmission
The 6-speed PANKL transmission helps the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S shift to the next level. A new, lighter aluminum shift drum with optimized tracks ensures faster and smoother gear changes. Copper-coated shift forks reduce wear, while the Quickshifter+ enables lightning-fast and seamless shifts.

SMOOTH CONTROL
PASC Clutch
The slipper clutch opens when the engine’s back-torque is too high and assists when the throttle is opened. This prevents rear wheel destabilization during hard braking or deceleration and reduces lever effort during gear shifts, allowing clutch control with just one finger—saving your energy on the road.

Cylinder Heads
A key part of the smooth power delivery of the 75° V-twin engine is its state-of-the-art 4-valve DOHC cylinder heads. They combine twin ignition, flow-optimized ports, and low-friction valve drive with DLC-coated camshafts for flawless performance.

DLC Coating
Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating is an ultra-hard, durable coating used on engine components like camshafts to improve sliding. It enhances performance, and our engines love it!

The twin ignition system controls two differently sized spark plugs in each cylinder head independently. This improves combustion, making the process smoother and more controlled. For you, this means better power management, lower fuel consumption, and reduced emissions.

Pistons
The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S pistons are forged using Formula 1 technologies. They offer high load capacity in a compact, lightweight design. The piston skirts feature a modern Grafal® coating, reducing friction and increasing wear resistance.

Exhaust
The fully redesigned exhaust system delivers a powerful sound for the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S. Two new headers direct gases into a hydroformed chamber with dual catalytic converters. Three lambda sensors ensure EURO5 compliance, while a new stainless steel muffler produces the signature V-twin tone.

BREATHE EASY
Air Filter
The redesigned airbox allows easy filter access by unscrewing 4 bolts and removing the compartment in front of the filler neck. The filter now features vertical ribs that direct dust and sand downward, preventing them from entering the filter slots. A great solution for true adventurers.

KEEP IT COOL
Cooling
The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S now features two separate radiators instead of one, improving heat dissipation and overall cooling. Smart air ducts direct cool air to the engine, cooling not only the motorcycle but also the rider’s legs.
