A NEW GENERATION OF DOMINAR

The Dominar 400 2027 retains the model’s key strengths — strong single-cylinder character, high-speed confidence and touring versatility — while gaining a much more advanced electronic architecture. Ride-by-Wire, four riding modes, Traction Control, a new colour display and smartphone connectivity take the familiar Sport Touring concept to a new technological level.

READY FOR LONG-DISTANCE TOURING

The Dominar concept is about much more than urban riding. The motorcycle is designed for long routes and combines a tall windscreen, hand guards, engine protection, lower protection, split seat, passenger backrest, rear luggage platform, luggage mounting points, USB charging and the option to fit a top box and side bags. One motorcycle for everyday city use, fast highway riding and multi-day journeys.

TOURING ERGONOMICS

Dominar ergonomics are focused on comfort during long hours in the saddle. The revised handlebar position, stable 1453 mm wheelbase, seat height of approximately 800 mm and carefully considered riding position help maintain a natural posture both in the city and on the highway. A kerb weight of 192 kg also contributes to a planted, stable feel at speed.

LUGGAGE AND PRACTICALITY

The rear luggage platform allows a top case to be fitted and is designed with touring use in mind. Saddle Guards and soft side bags can also be installed. Luggage straps are provided under the passenger seat — a simple but very practical detail for long-distance trips.

FULL LED

The Dominar uses full LED lighting for the main lighting functions: LED headlight, position light, tail light, brake light, turn indicators and number-plate illumination. The AHO system automatically activates the headlight after the engine starts, improving the motorcycle’s visibility on the road.

13-LITRE FUEL TANK

The 13-litre fuel tank provides a practical balance between range, weight and overall dimensions. The engine is compatible with E10 and E20 fuel. For touring use, the new instrument panel also displays DTE — the estimated distance that can be travelled with the remaining fuel.

ENGINE FROM THE “BIG BROTHER” KTM 390 DUKE

At the heart of the Dominar 400 2027 is an updated 373.27 cm³ single-cylinder KTM/Bajaj-platform engine, technically related to the power unit used by the previous-generation KTM 390 Duke. It produces 40 hp at 8,800 rpm and 35 Nm at 6,500 rpm. An 89 × 60 mm bore and stroke, DOHC, 4 valves, liquid cooling and a 12.2:1 compression ratio combine the sporty DNA of the KTM 390 platform with the touring character of the Dominar.

1 SPARK PLUG INSTEAD OF TRIPLE SPARK

Previous European Dominar 400 models used the well-known DTS-i Triple Spark three-spark-plug system. In the new 2027 version, the 373.27 cm³ engine uses a single spark plug. Together with a modern ECU, electronic throttle and updated control logic, this highlights the extensive modernization of the power unit while retaining the proven 373 cc foundation.

RIDE-BY-WIRE

Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle control allows the ECU to shape engine response more precisely according to throttle input. This system forms the basis for the four riding modes, Traction Control and different EMS settings. In Road mode the engine delivers a balanced response, Sport sharpens throttle reaction, Rain softens power delivery, and Off-Road adapts the response for loose or unstable surfaces.

4 ABS & EMS RIDING MODES

ROAD — the all-round mode for city and highway riding. SPORT — sharper engine response and a more dynamic character. RAIN — softer power delivery and a more conservative ABS strategy for slippery surfaces. OFF-ROAD — adapted engine and ABS behaviour for dirt and gravel. The modes alter not only throttle response but also the algorithms of the electronic systems. The throttle must be fully closed when changing modes; Off-Road can be selected while moving only below 20 km/h.

TRACTION CONTROL

Motorcycle Traction Control monitors rear-wheel slip during acceleration and helps transfer engine torque to the road more effectively. It is particularly useful on wet asphalt, road markings, dust and gravel. In SPORT and OFF-ROAD modes Traction Control can be switched off manually; in ROAD and RAIN it remains active.

6-SPEED GEARBOX + ASSIST & SLIPPER CLUTCH

The six-speed gearbox makes full use of the 373 cc engine’s potential. The Assist mechanism reduces clutch-lever effort, while the Slipper function reduces engine back-torque during aggressive downshifts, helping maintain rear-wheel stability during spirited riding.

OPTIONAL REKLUSE AUTOMATIC CLUTCH

For even greater comfort, an automatic Rekluse clutch designed for the previous-generation 373 cc KTM 390 Duke platform can be fitted as an additional option. Rekluse Auto Clutch automatically manages clutch engagement and disengagement, so during starts, stops, traffic jams or slow technical sections the rider needs to use the clutch lever far less often. This is an aftermarket option; compatibility of the specific kit with the Dominar 400 2027 must be confirmed before installation.

PERIMETER FRAME

The rigid perimeter frame is the foundation of the Dominar’s stable character. It is designed for confidence at high speed, predictable cornering and touring loads. A 1453 mm wheelbase and 157 mm ground clearance create a balance between highway stability and versatility on roads of varying quality.

43-MM USD + NITROX MONO SHOCK

A 43 mm upside-down USD fork is fitted at the front, with a Nitrox Mono Shock at the rear featuring multi-step spring-preload adjustment. This configuration combines precise handling, high-speed stability and sufficient comfort on uneven road surfaces.

DUAL-CHANNEL ABS

A 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc work together with Dual-Channel ABS. On the 2027 version, the ABS algorithms are integrated with the riding modes: Road, Sport, Rain and Off-Road use different intervention strategies depending on conditions. This makes braking more predictable in the city, on wet roads, during spirited riding and on loose surfaces.

17-INCH WHEELS AND RADIAL TYRES

Front tyre size is 110/70 R17 and rear tyre size is 150/60 R17. Both are tubeless. The wide rear tyre, 17-inch alloy wheels and sport-touring geometry provide confident grip, highway stability and predictable cornering behaviour.

ELECTRONIC OVERHEAT PROTECTION

The system monitors coolant temperature. If the engine becomes excessively hot, a warning appears on the instrument panel, and at a critical temperature the ECU can limit engine speed to approximately 5,000 rpm, reducing load and helping protect the power unit.

NEW COLOUR LCD INSTRUMENT PANEL

In the new version, information is concentrated on a single modern colour LCD display directly in front of the rider. The instrument panel shows speed, engine rpm, selected gear, fuel level, riding mode, Traction Control and ABS status, Trip A/B, average speed, average fuel consumption, riding time, service messages and electronic-system warnings. An ambient-light sensor automatically adjusts brightness, while the rider can also choose High, Medium or Low brightness and Day/Night display modes.

BLUETOOTH + BAJAJ RIDE CONNECT

A smartphone connects to the motorcycle via Bluetooth and the Bajaj Ride Connect app. Incoming calls, missed calls, messages, smartphone battery level and mobile-signal strength can be displayed. The rider can accept or reject calls, control music, adjust volume and change tracks from the handlebar controls.

TURN-BY-TURN NAVIGATION

Navigation works through Bajaj Ride Connect and displays the direction of the next turn, distance to the manoeuvre, U-turn instructions, ETA, remaining distance, rerouting messages and destination-arrival information on the instrument panel. Key navigation information stays directly in front of the rider, reducing the need to look at a smartphone while riding.

LAP TIMER

The built-in Lap Timer can record multiple laps and identify the best result. The function can operate in the background and highlights the sporting side of the new Dominar electronics package.

DRAG RACE MODE

The dedicated Drag Race mode records maximum speed, distance travelled and time. It is one of the most interesting additional functions of the new instrument panel and was previously unusual for a touring-focused Dominar.

DTE AND BATTERY MONITORING

DTE (Distance To Empty) estimates the remaining riding range based on fuel level and actual average fuel consumption. The 12-volt battery voltage can also be viewed separately on the display; if voltage becomes low, the system shows a warning. Both functions are especially useful on long-distance trips.

NEW HANDLEBAR CONTROLS

The new left-hand switchgear features SET, UP, DOWN and EXIT buttons. These controls operate the instrument-panel menus, riding modes, Traction Control, navigation, calls and music. A dedicated hazard-warning switch is located on the right-hand control; when activated, all four turn indicators flash simultaneously.

FACTORY USB PORT

The factory USB port is located near the ignition switch, has a protective cover against dust and moisture, and allows a smartphone to be charged while the engine is running. A practical solution for navigation, communication and long-distance touring.
