Description
Bajaj Pulsar NS400 2027 — the most powerful Pulsar in the current line-up and one of the most interesting sporty naked bikes in its class. At its heart is the proven 373.27 cc KTM/Bajaj platform, technically related to the previous-generation KTM 390 Duke engine, but installed in the compact and sporty NS-family chassis. In the updated version, output rises to 43 PS, the engine receives a forged piston, revised valvetrain, updated valve timing and intake, and adds the clutchless fast-shifting Sport Shift, new radial tyres, a wider 150 mm rear tyre, sintered front brake pads and improved heat management. Ride-by-Wire, 4 riding modes, Traction Control, Dual-Channel ABS, a 43 mm USD fork, Bluetooth, navigation and full LED lighting turn the NS400 into a modern, technology-packed streetfighter for the city, winding roads and fast highways.

01. STREETFIGHTER

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 2027 streetfighter

THE MOST POWERFUL PULSAR

The NS400 is not simply an enlarged NS200 or a lighter Dominar. Its concept is different: a powerful 373.27 cc engine with KTM/Bajaj DNA is fitted into the compact, sporty Pulsar NS chassis. The result combines 43 PS, 35 Nm and only about 174 kg kerb weight. The calculated power-to-weight ratio is about 247 PS per tonne, so the NS400 feels light, quick and very responsive when changing direction.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 2027 design

AGGRESSIVE NS DESIGN

A muscular fuel tank, compact front mask, signature lightning-shaped daytime running lights, floating side panels, carbon-style graphics, a short tail, gold USD fork and underbelly exhaust create the recognizable streetfighter silhouette. The design looks aggressive, while the riding position remains practical for everyday use.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 2027 LED headlight

FULL LED + LIGHTNING BOLT DRL

The front lighting is built around a bi-functional LED projector. Signature daytime running lights Lightning Bolt DRL create the distinctive NS400 light signature. LEDs are also used for the tail lamp, turn indicators and number-plate illumination. The AHO system automatically switches on the headlight after the engine starts.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 2027 riding position

SPORTY, BUT NOT EXTREME, RIDING POSITION

A wide handlebar, nearly upright upper-body position and slightly rear-set footpegs create a good balance between control and comfort. The NS400 is easy to live with in the city while still allowing the rider to move actively through corners. According to road tests, seat height is approximately 805–807 mm depending on specification.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 hydroformed handlebar

HYDROFORMED HANDLEBAR

The tubular handlebar is made using hydroforming technology. This design provides high rigidity, precise control input and helps reduce unwanted vibration. The front brake lever and clutch lever offer 5 adjustment positions, allowing the controls to be better tailored to the rider's hand.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 fuel tank

12-LITRE FUEL TANK

Fuel tank capacity is 12 litres. There is no separate mechanical reserve. The owner's manual recommends avoiding operation of the fuel-injection system with an almost empty tank and keeping roughly at least 3 litres of fuel available. Independent tests suggest that with relaxed riding, real-world range can approach 300 km, depending on speed, mode and riding style.

02. 43 PS AND KTM DNA

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 373.27 engine

ENGINE WITH KTM 390 DUKE DNA

At the heart of the NS400 is a 373.27 cc single-cylinder KTM/Bajaj platform, technically related to the previous-generation KTM 390 Duke engine. Engine geometry is 89 × 60 mm, compression ratio is 12.2:1, with DOHC valvegear, 4 valves, liquid cooling and electronic fuel injection. The updated version produces 43 PS at 9000 rpm and 35 Nm at 7500 rpm.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 forged piston and updated engine

40 → 43 PS — MORE THAN A SOFTWARE UPDATE

The increase from 40 to 43 PS comes from real mechanical development. Bajaj revised the valvetrain, valve timing, camshaft operation and intake tract, and also fitted a forged piston. A forged piston withstands high temperatures and loads better, offers high mechanical strength and improved thermal stability.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 43 hp performance

A MORE REV-HUNGRY CHARACTER

The previous version produced 40 PS at 8800 rpm and 35 Nm at 6500 rpm. The updated version makes 43 PS at 9000 rpm and 35 Nm at 7500 rpm. Peak torque has not decreased, but the character is sportier. Independent tests indicate that in SPORT the upper rev range can reach roughly 10,700 rpm, with the strongest surge arriving after the middle of the tachometer.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 performance

0–100 KM/H IN 6.4 S

Officially stated performance for the updated version: 0–60 km/h — 2.7 s, 0–100 km/h — 6.4 s, top speed — about 157 km/h. The previous 40 PS version recorded about 3.2 s, 7.5 s and 150 km/h respectively. Kerb weight remains about 174 kg.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Sport Shift

SPORT SHIFT — CLUTCHLESS SHIFTING

One of the key updates is Sport Shift, a fast gear-shifting system that does not require the clutch lever, developed by Bajaj together with Bosch. Unlike a conventional quickshifter, it does not require a separate traditional shift-rod sensor. The electronics analyse gear position, engine speed and throttle. According to road tests, the system works for both upshifts and downshifts and helps match engine speed on downshifts. Sport Shift is active in SPORT mode and switches off automatically when another riding mode is selected.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Assist Slipper Clutch

6-SPEED GEARBOX + SLIPPER CLUTCH

The six-speed manual gearbox works together with an Assist & Slipper Clutch with lighter lever effort and slipper function. The Assist function reduces lever effort, while the Slipper function reduces back-torque during aggressive downshifts and helps keep the rear wheel more stable.

Rekluse for Bajaj Pulsar NS400

OPTIONAL REKLUSE AUTO CLUTCH

For the 373 cc KTM/Bajaj platform, an automatic Rekluse clutch from the previous 373 cc KTM 390 platform can be installed — this solution has already been practically tested for compatibility with Bajaj. Rekluse automates clutch engagement and disengagement during starts, stops and low-speed riding, but does not turn the gearbox into an automatic: the rider still selects the gears. Sport Shift is responsible for faster gear changes, while Rekluse automates the clutch itself.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 373.27 export

FULL-DISPLACEMENT 373.27 CC EXPORT VERSION

Our version retains the full displacement of 373.27 cc, a 60 mm stroke and 35 Nm. A separate 349.13 cc configuration with a shorter stroke of about 56.1 mm was later created for the Indian domestic market, primarily to move into India's more favourable tax category below 350 cc. The current Indian technical page also lists 43 PS, but torque is lower at 33.2 Nm. The 373 cc version therefore retains the larger displacement, longer stroke and fuller torque delivery.

03. CONTROL

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 frame

NS-FAMILY PERIMETER FRAME

The NS400 uses the sporty perimeter-frame architecture of the Pulsar NS family, adapted for the significantly more powerful 373 cc engine. Wheelbase is 1344 mm, ground clearance is 165 mm. The short wheelbase, rigid frame and relatively low weight are what separate the NS400 from the more touring-oriented Dominar: it changes direction faster and feels more compact.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 USD fork

43 MM UPSIDE-DOWN FORK

At the front is a substantial 43 mm upside-down fork (USD) in the distinctive Champagne Gold finish. The upside-down design increases front-end rigidity and gives more precise steering and braking response. At the rear is a Nitrox Mono Shock with spring preload adjustment.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Nitrox

NITROX MONO SHOCK

The Nitrox rear monoshock allows spring preload to be adjusted for rider weight, passenger load and riding style. The suspension is tuned more for sport than softness: it controls the motorcycle well on good asphalt and during active riding, although sharp bumps can feel relatively firm.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 radial tyres

NEW RADIAL TYRES 110/70 + 150/60

The updated 43 PS version receives radial tyres on both wheels: 110/70-ZR17 front and 150/60-ZR17 rear. The previous rear tyre was 140 mm wide. The new set provides better stability, cornering precision and confidence on wet surfaces. Independent tests have described the tyres as one of the most noticeable improvements to the updated NS400.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 320 mm brakes

320 MM DISC + NEW SINTERED PADS

The 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc remain unchanged. The key update is the switch from organic to sintered metal front brake pads. They cope with heat better and maintain consistent braking performance for longer. Bajaj states that braking distance has been reduced; some specialist media cite an improvement of roughly up to 7%.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Ride-by-Wire modes

RIDE-BY-WIRE + 4 RIDING MODES

Electronic throttle control Ride-by-Wire allows the engine character to change according to conditions. ROAD — the all-round mode; SPORT — the sharpest response plus Sport Shift; RAIN — softer torque delivery; OFF-ROAD — adapted engine and ABS logic for loose surfaces. To change modes, the throttle must be fully closed; Off-Road can be selected while moving at approximately up to 20 km/h.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Traction Control

TRACTION CONTROL

The anti-slip Traction Control monitors the difference in wheel speeds and adjusts engine torque if the rear tyre spins excessively. It is especially useful on wet asphalt, road markings and dusty surfaces. In SPORT and OFF-ROAD, traction control can be switched off manually; in ROAD and RAIN it remains active.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 cooling

IMPROVED HEAT MANAGEMENT

The updated version receives a redesigned radiator cowl that directs hot air away from the rider's legs more effectively. The cooling system controls the fan automatically: it switches on at roughly 95°C and off at around 90°C. At about 110°C a warning appears, while around 115°C the ECU can limit engine speed to approximately 4500 rpm to protect the engine.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 instrument panel

04. TECHNOLOGY

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 LCD panel

COLOUR LCD BONDED GLASS DISPLAY

In front of the rider is a colour LCD panel with optically bonded protective glass, Bonded Glass and an information dot-matrix area. It is not a TFT display, but functionality is extensive: speed, rpm, gear position, fuel level, riding modes, ABS, traction control, Trip A/B, average speed and fuel consumption, riding time, DTE, battery voltage, service messages, date, clock and system warnings.

Bajaj Ride Connect NS400

BLUETOOTH + BAJAJ RIDE CONNECT

The smartphone connects via Bluetooth and the Bajaj Ride Connect app. The display can show calls, messages, phone battery level and mobile-network status. From the handlebar controls, the rider can accept or reject calls, control music, adjust volume and change tracks. Depending on the market, the app may also support trip recording, service reminders, document storage and service-centre search.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 navigation

TURN-BY-TURN NAVIGATION

Via Bajaj Ride Connect, the display shows the direction of the next turn, distance to the manoeuvre, U-turn indication, estimated arrival time, route recalculation, GPS loss and arrival notification. The main navigation information remains directly in the rider's line of sight.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Lap Timer DTE

LAP TIMER + DTE

The built-in Lap Timer records multiple laps, identifies the best result and can operate in the background. DTE (Distance To Empty) estimates remaining range using average consumption over roughly the last 25 km. The maximum displayed value is 990 km. The display also shows battery voltage and service interval.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 smart controls

FAVORITES + QUICK SELECT

The menu can be personalised. Up to 11 functions are available in Favorites, with 4 shown on the main screen. Up to 11 functions are also available for Quick Select, with two assignable to the Up/Down shortcuts. Menu control is handled by a 4-way switch on the handlebar.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 USB

USB + HAZARD LIGHTS

The factory USB port can charge a smartphone or navigation device and has a protective cover. A dedicated hazard button activates all four turn indicators at once — a simple but very useful everyday function.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 safety

SIDE-STAND SAFETY

If the side stand is down and a gear is engaged, the electronics prevent normal take-off. Shifting from neutral into gear with the stand down can automatically stop the engine. ABS and traction control also perform self-diagnostics after start-up and once the motorcycle begins moving.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 2027 connected

ONE MOTORCYCLE — FOUR CHARACTERS

The NS400 can be a calm urban naked bike in ROAD, at its sharpest in SPORT, more progressive on wet roads in RAIN and adapted for gravel and dirt in OFF-ROAD. The combination of the 43 PS engine, electronic throttle, riding modes, traction control, ABS and Sport Shift makes the updated version substantially more advanced than the first NS400.
