Wheels

Suspension

The inverted WP APEX 43 mm front fork with 220 mm of travel ensures flawless performance and comfort in any condition, whether it’s reliable handling on asphalt or smooth off-road travel. You can quickly and easily adjust the ride characteristics to your preferences and varying conditions thanks to compression and rebound damping adjustability. Likewise, the WP APEX rear shock offers a substantial 215 mm of travel and is adjustable for rebound damping and spring preload to match the roads you ride and the loads you carry. Adjustments are fast and simple, so when conditions change, you can tune the suspension to suit. With the comfort and control provided by proper suspension, the distance you travel is less limited.

Engine

Every twist of the ride-by-wire throttle delivers exactly the power needed to reach new horizons. A pair of balancer shafts in the 889 cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine enhances comfort and reduces vibration, adding to the riding pleasure. The engine boasts impressive power: a peak output of 77 kW (105 hp) at 8000 rpm and 100 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. This, combined with refinement and handling, allows the engine to deliver everything required, wherever you go. Long service intervals (15,000 km) and low fuel consumption make the Norden 901 engine even better suited to the tasks you set for it.

Brakes

To excel on-road and off, the Norden 901 needs brakes with power and control. You can rely on the Bosch ABS system, which confidently delivers quick and precise stops, regardless of surface or conditions. The J.Juan braking system under the Husqvarna brand brings MotoGP technology to the Norden 901. Four-piston radial front calipers act on twin 320 mm floating brake discs, providing exceptional feel and feedback when pulling the lever. The rear brake features a 260 mm disc and a two-piston floating caliper. Pistons in the rear caliper have insulating plates to maintain heat resistance, so the brake doesn’t fade during long downhill trail sections. The Bosch ABS can be disabled on the rear wheel for experienced riders.

Steering Damper

The steering damper enhances stability on rough roads or when hitting sudden bumps, while still allowing light steering for off-road riding. Additionally, the frame offers the option to fit a high-performance adjustable off-road steering damper.

Clutch

You’ll quickly feel the benefits of the PASC (Power Assist Slipper Clutch), which maximizes rear wheel grip under full acceleration and prevents instability or hopping when downshifting quickly or braking hard into corners. It also makes control easier—when you open the throttle, the hand effort required at the clutch lever for gear shifts is reduced. Less fatigue means more riding enjoyment for longer.

Gearbox

The Norden 901 features a 6-speed sequential gearbox with ratios suited to any condition—from walking pace to highway cruising. Fast and precise shifting is ensured by a short shift lever throw, light spring action, and, when needed, assistance from the standard Easy Shift quickshifter. The teeth of the 4th, 5th, and 6th gears are glass-bead blasted for exceptional reliability.

Ride Modes

With three selectable ride modes (Street, Rain, Offroad) and an optional Explorer mode, you can instantly choose the best combination of rider aids as quickly as the weather or terrain changes. Throttle response, traction control levels, and peak power vary across modes. Street mode offers direct throttle response with traction control settings suited to paved surfaces—smooth enough for less experienced riders or when carrying a passenger, yet dynamic enough to carve through winding mountain roads and valleys. Rain mode provides a very smooth throttle response, reduced peak power, and early traction control intervention. Offroad mode has a smooth throttle response and allows more wheel slip before activation. This mode is angle-insensitive, traction control doesn’t interfere when using a berm to turn, and the anti-wheelie function is disengaged, letting you lift the front wheel over obstacles. The optional Explorer mode gives you direct control over all functions.

Easy Shift

You can fully focus on mastering terrain in tough conditions with Easy Shift, which allows seamless up- and downshifts through the 6-speed gearbox. A sensor detects when you tap the shift lever and instructs the ECU to match engine parameters for flawless gear changes at any RPM or engine load. Easy Shift means shorter shift times and smoother riding since there’s no need to close the throttle or use the clutch to shift. It not only improves rear wheel grip but also lets you maintain control while keeping both hands on the bars.

Offroad ABS

You know braking on dirt requires a different technique than on pavement, and the Offroad mode in the Bosch ABS system recognizes that adventure riding is about exploring the unknown, long-distance travel, and needing a bike to support you in all situations. In Offroad mode, rear wheel ABS is disabled, front wheel activation is reduced, and lean angle sensor data is no longer part of the system’s calculations. You can now lock the rear wheel to aid in turns. With front wheel ABS tuned for less intervention in this mode, the front brake can be used to full effect on loose surfaces. Designed to boost functionality and confidence in any scenario, Offroad mode expands and refines Bosch ABS capabilities to match any adventure.

Cruise Control

Once on a long clear stretch of road, you can set cruise control via handlebar switches and momentarily focus on the landscape ahead. That’s why you travel—for those blissful moments when you feel part of your surroundings. Cruise control is also handy when you don’t want to risk exceeding speed limits. For added riding convenience, the Norden 901 features a height-adjustable two-piece seat with exceptional grip and comfort in all conditions, plus an aluminum tapered handlebar with six mounting positions offering a 30 mm adjustment range (front to back) for customizable ergonomics.

MTC

You need rider aids that assist rather than restrict, ensuring you’re always in control. The Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) is lean-angle sensitive and provides smooth intervention. When it detects the rear wheel spinning at an incorrect speed for the riding situation, throttle input is reduced until the proper level of rear wheel slip is achieved for the selected mode and current lean angle. In Explorer mode, you can adjust MTC intervention with 9 levels of slip control. When front wheel lift is detected, the system reduces throttle in small increments for steadier acceleration. As your ambitions and experience grow, you can disable traction control if desired, letting the rear wheel drift and lifting the front wheel at will.

Ride-by-Wire Throttle

The electronic ride-by-wire throttle ensures perfect power delivery and guarantees instant engine response when you need it. Regardless of weather or temperature, it works with the bike’s sensors to tell the engine management system exactly what’s required. It also means no throttle cable to maintain or adjust.
